#YouTube Launches New Hashtag Search Results Pages
YouTube Launches New Hashtag Search Results Pages.
YouTube is improving its hashtag search capability with the launch of dedicated results pages.
YouTube is launching a new type of search results page that appears when users search for videos by hashtag.
YouTube first introduced the ability to search by hashtag, and a hashtag search would include content using the hashtag and other related content that did not contain the hashtag.
When searching for a specific hashtag on YouTube on the desktop or mobile app, users will see a dedicated page that only contains videos with that hashtag.
Users can access hashtag search results pages by clicking on any related hashtag that is automatically displayed on YouTube.
After clicking on a hashtag, YouTube says that new search results pages will be sorted to keep the “best” videos at the top.
One of the coolest things about these new hashtag pages is the number of videos at the top.
Each hashtag page shows the number of channels that posted videos with that hashtag and the total number of videos.
Hashtag search results are algorithmically organized in a long stream, which is not always the best solution for users and only serves to take advantage of larger channels.
All search filters offered by YouTube for other types of searches have disappeared during a hashtag search.
It would be a great improvement to see the same filters become available everywhere.
YouTube would do well to take notes on Twitter, the social network that pioneered hashtag research.
